On February 8, 2011, Saint-Gobain received an order for material to replace the roof of the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota which collapsed late in 2010. The order was for 45,000 m2 of SHEERFILL® I Architectural Membrane and 34,000 m2 of Fabrasorb I Acoustical Membrane. The wishes of the stadium authority was to have the roof back up and inflated by August 1, at the start of the NFL preseason.
Saint-Gobain completed delivery of the material the week of May 8, a full three weeks early. This represented a spectacular effort on the part of everyone at the Merrimack, New Hampshire plant. The fabric panels are already being installed with a substantial part of the replacement already in place. It is virtually assured that the August 1 deadline will easily be met.
