When used as a liner in SHEERFILL® Architectural Membrane systems, Fabrasorb acoustical membrane significantly reduces interior noise levels. In traditional SHEERFILL membrane structures, Fabrasorb appears as an integral part of the roof itself. Ideal for sports complexes and industrial facilities, Fabrasorb allows diffused natural daylight in, while minimizing acoustical disturbance throughout.
In addition to serving as a sound attenuator, Fabrasorb membrane can also improve the thermal characteristics of fabric roof systems. By creating an “insulation” layer of air between the outside and air-conditioned interior space, Fabrasorb can increase the R-value of the roof system, while still allowing natual diffuse light to fill the space below.
The Fabrasorb membrane is a translucent, non-combustible, porous composite made with fiberglass and Teflon®. It has a Class A rating, and its overall performance in regard to permanent building codes, including fire codes, is consistent with that of SHEERFILL membrane. Non-combustible properties are inherent in these materials that do not degrade over time.
Fabrasorb is not limited for use in tensile membrane roofs and structures. It functions equally well as a new or retrofit sound attenuator in structures made of glass, brick or any other traditional building material. Fabrasorb allows for a creative definition of space within a structure.
When erected in imaginative ways, a FABRASORB membrane canopy becomes a functional and attractive focal point in large halls or atriums. A variety of panel shapes can be combined into almost endless geometric configurations.
